Birds and other exotic pets are unique in that their anatomy, physiology, and diseases are different in many ways from those of dogs and cats. This can make even simple procedures, such as spaying and neutering, challenging. In this lecture, we will review spays in birds and spays & neuters in small mammals and point out how these procedures are different from the corresponding procedures in dogs and cats.
