A dense market of responsible pet-owners with a growing population of veterinary professionals has the potential to yield increasing returns per year. Early-movers into this targeted demographic would establish prime positioning in the minds of key decision-makers.
This year, we expect to exceed 360 attendees with a healthy mix of veterinarians, technicians, and practice managers. As these veterinary professionals learn about the latest techniques and technologies, they will be more open to engage with the possible solutions that your brand can offer them.
Of the 5446 licensed veterinarians in New York, 349 (6.4%) are in Westchester; in comparison, New York City has 512 (9.4%) of the licensed veterinarians in New York. Yet Westchester may represent a bigger opportunity just outside of the city, largely due to its unique demographic and economic advantages. According to the latest US Census, Westchester County boasts a median household income of $114,651, significantly higher than New York City’s median income of $76,607, which reflects the higher cost of living in the city and the potential for affluent clientele in Westchester. Of that income, New Yorkers spent an average of $2,497 per pet in 2022, according to Capital One, showing a strong investment in pet care and wellness. This data, coupled with an estimated pet ownership of over 400,000 in Westchester alone, highlights the substantial untapped potential of this targeted region. Furthermore, the rise in pet humanization trends has led to greater spending on premium pet services, providing an even wider avenue for veterinary practices to flourish in Westchester. Thus, capitalizing on this burgeoning market could prove to be a strategic move for veterinarians as well as various vendors and suppliers in the pet-care industry looking to expand their outreach and services.
