Veterinary medicine is experiencing rapid technological change, yet adoption often lags behind availability. This lecture explores why change feels difficult in veterinary practice and reframes technology adoption as a matter of professional discipline rather than technical skill.

Drawing on over four decades of clinical experience, the presenter examines recurring patterns in veterinary medicine—where familiar tools feel safe, innovation feels unnecessary, and discomfort is mistaken for inefficiency. The lecture focuses on the internal mindset required to evaluate, adopt, and integrate new technologies thoughtfully, with particular attention to communication, collaboration, workflow integration, and access to care.

Through real-world clinical examples, participants will explore how disciplined use of modern tools—including virtual collaboration and AI-assisted documentation—can enhance clinical effectiveness, reduce cognitive load, improve client communication, and expand access to care without replacing traditional referral models.

This session emphasizes reflective practice, ethical responsibility, and sustainable professional growth, providing veterinarians at all career stages with practical frameworks to evaluate and integrate technology in a way that improves patient care, professional satisfaction, and practice efficiency.
